VR6- All engines, 3.2 and 3.6, all model years are driven by timing CHAIN. There is no timing belt in these engines. There is NO specified interval for replacing the chain / no prevenative replacement required. V8 2004-2006 - 40 valve engine ONLY - these are timing BELT driven. Recommended belt replacement interval is 80,000 miles

Ihave a Hyundai ix20 1.6 diesel active which, I believe, has a timing chain as opposed to a belt. I always understood that timing chains were generally expected to last the life of the engine. A neighbour of mine recently told me it should be replace between 80,000 and 100,000 miles. I tend to buy my cars new/virtually new and run them until AudiA3 2.0 TDI (2003) remapped. BMW 120d (E87). BMW 325d M Sport remapped (E91). At present I have no plans to replace timing chain. At 100,000+ miles or if and when I heard a rattle, I might consider it. Overallengine failure; Solution For Timing Chain Tensioner Failure. The best solution to this is to replace the tensioner and timing chain. The cost of replacement is usually around $3000 to $4000. But if you change the oil at regular intervals of 8 to 10 kilometers, the tensioner and chain should last and won’t slack when starting the engine.

Engine oil capacity: 8.2 litres (8.7 quarts) Manufacturers recommended timing chain replacement interval for Audi A4 3.0 diesel is 300,000 km. the Audi A4 2004 3.0 TDI quattro 233 Hp 4x4 timing chain change interval is approximately 200,000 km as at this mileage it may become overstretched and require replacement, Thetiming chain is designed to last the life of the engine. you need to replace the timing belt eventually, But that is completely different. the timing chain is a full engine removal. as long as you keep the right oil in the engine and perform regular oil changes, you shouldn't have to worry about the timing chain.
Keepin mind Audi produce 2 3.0 litre engines, one being a petrol unit while the other is a common rail single turbo with twin intercoolers. I owned this particular model until only 3 months ago. The 2007 model Audi A6 3.0 litre V6 tdi and I can assure you this engine does NOT have a timing belt, it runs a series of timing chains.
USB8.5 Q5 3.0 TDI is the CPNB engine, which is an EA897 clean diesel generation engine, it appears. Like the EA837 V6 FSI engine (3.0T), chains on the back. Unlike the earlier EA896 V6 TDI engines, the EA897 has just two chains wrapped all around on the backside. Outer one is crankcams, inner one is crankfuel pump / oil
Laborand parts for the timing chain tensioner was $4k but that was covered by warranty company. The rest of the guides, rails, timing chain, I just had to pay ~$700 for OEM parts, but labor was covered in that $4k. I have the 3.0 TFSI and I just did the timing chains on my engine at 205k. It’s a motor out repair.
